Try Bubba Gump's in the outdoor Mall on Atlantic Blvd next to the Hilton. Pretty fun place with a Forrest Gump movie theme. Good food and the waitresses are fun.

It's on the Parkway strip. Right downtown Gatlinburg where all the restuarants and motels are. I think it is right across the street from Blaine's... maybe a block or two from the Space Needle. Sorry don't know what stop light # it is at. Funny how they refer to everything by stop light #'s.

We also ate at the Bubba Gump's in Gatlinburg last Christmas. It is right on the main strip. We will be returning this Christmas.

Can you still drive on the beach in Daytona? I've done it twice over the last 30 years (yikes), it's pretty neat. Good idea to be sober though, gotta watch for drunks walking in front of you !

Being able to drive on the beach is still one of the "Hallmarks" of the Daytona area, just be aware of high tide. Many have taken longer than expected naps only to end up scrambling for a phone book/tow truck.

Used to be free to drive on the beach now they charge you for the privledge. We were there in Feb and not as many cars on the beach as I remember years ago.

I am really dating myself when I tell you the last time I was at Dayton, was with the parents when the space shuttle went up.......in the 60's. :?: :?: What extact year was that? We watched it launch when we were at Daytona. Dad, God rest his soul, got hit in the back with a major wave and I had to drive from Tenn on home to Indiana on my learner's permitt. Too funny the memories

Oh, it would be cool to drive on the beach once it should be too cold to walk :) Thanks! will try Bubbas, I found it on the internet. I will be staying at the Royal Floridian Resort, seems pretty nice... Once is Christmas seems like all the museums will be closed :( my favorite, at least will be able to go see the lighthouse at Ponce de Leon south of daytona...

It shouldn't be too cold. When we were there in Feb we were sitting out on the beach in swim suits soaking up some rays. Not too bad.... but then I am from the North. You should be fine.

Ponce Inlet Lighthouse is great. You can go to the top! About half way up there is a little plaque that says they found one of the lighthouse keepers there, can't remember if he was dead or alive . . . . . I was huffing and puffing, but I'm way out of shape.
Let me know what the sign says if you go up. There are a couple of little restaurants in that area also, on the river side of the peninsula. ENJOY ! I wish I was going, send us a pic of your car on the beach :P

The lighthouse is definetly a must stop place along with Inlet Harbor, since you will only be about half a click away.

Cool! hahaha Marcia, I will definetely check out and let you know, yes, pictures, pictures!
I wish some Museum will open, they are my favorite. Well, planning nothing fancy, just going there with the girlfriends to relax the vacation that I was going to loose, no fun taking vacations at home.
