Are you serious GT or are you being sarcastic? You know those bigger jets burn way more fuel..thus polluting the air much more than a smaller aircraft. And from another post you made..would it be safe to say that the Seirra Club is happy with the progress in PCB? If the like preservation..then they should be happy. The beaches are much larger thanks to large corporations repairing them with their big sand pumping ships. Also ...all the growth and additional tax revenues play a critical role in beach preservation. Thats what we are concerned with preserving..correct? OR are we concerned with preserving the old two lane road ( which was bumber to bumper with gas guzzlers back in the 70's when I was a kid ) and preserving the beautiful Peeks or Wright's Beachside Motel? So..please advise..is the Seirra Club concerned with preserving the beaches their or stopping the city from developing?

    Big Dave,

Smartnumber and I have argued with GT for a very long time on this and other issues. I am more than happy to pass the baton to you while I sit back and watch.

He won't change my opinion of the lovely Sierra Club. I work for a very large electric utility. My company has been complying with the tree huggers for years. All we build now for new generating plants are natural gas fired units...since our tree hugging pals hate coal burners. Ultimately this will make all of our power bills go up, since natural gas is more costly than coal. Get this...when we built a couple of eco-friendly generating units here on our site...the wonderful Sierra Club brought a law-suit against us because of emmissions during the commissioning and testing of the plant. So the only Sierra Club I'm interested in will be sitting around talking about GMC pickups! Yeah..they may have had good intentions in their humble beginning...but now they are nothing more than a far-left driven, capitalism hating political lobbying group.

They might be able to, but we'll probably won't see one flying commercially out of here in our lifetime. They're having troubles filling the seats on the Beach 1900's.

I, in some ways have to go along with both of you, I like progress, with progress values go up and I could make a decent profit when I decided to sell my condo, but with progress when I sell I'll soon be priced out of the market (catch 22, can't afford to sell, but can't afford to hang on to the place).
As for beach preservation, I'll have to amit I miss the layed back atmosphere from past years/decades, when you never met a stranger and most everyone took it slow and easy, people bragged about how cheap their room was instead of how expensive it was and all the amenities it had and when the beach became eroded it was built back, but unless I was mis-informed it wasn't big companys paying for it.
The bottom line is I like the beach, that's what I come for...

Well, if I lived less than 8 hours drive away, I would never fly in. But, when you are alot farther, you would appreciate a non stop which you can't get from Chicago. I now fly into Fort Walton because American flys non stop from Ohare to VPS.
You can't take it with you so you might as well spend it.
