I'm a fan of late Sept for the same reasons. This year I had to go the week of the 4th of July because of work and still had a great time even though it was crowded.

A week at the beach is better than . . .

October is tops. I'll be there Oct 10 - 19. When we lived there we used to advise our visiters to come in October. Great weather, less crowds, tee times available. Just hope everyone doesn't start coming in October, it'll look like July soon.

Strange on how things have changed down here. Once upon a time, the traffic never backed up except on really big weekends west of Middle Beach Road. Last night we rode down to the homemade icecream shop by Funland and it was bumper to bumper from 79 to there. Had to ride back through Pier Park on the way home, dang was it packed. Almost couldn't drive for all the people crossing the road.
Usually starts winding down around here after the 4th but doesn't appear so.

If its illegal to drink and drive, why do bars have parking lots?

We're definitely looking forward to our late September trip, too!

Something's odd about this summer. Usually the kids at the neighborhood pool across the street from my house would start to dwindle on weekends because they've had a month and a half to swim during the week and are bored with the pool by mid July, but they are still in full swing.

Tonight is really the first time I've heard the cicadas and I've not seen very many lighting bugs this summer either. Come to think of it as I'm typing we've had a lot of rain so maybe that's why the bugs aren't out and the kids are still at the pool on a Sunday afternoon.
