Stay Thirsty....
Thanks for the concern.
Had to go to Birmingham. My Mother is movimg to an assisted living home and we are trying to clean up her house. My sister had a dumpster set in the driveway. We filled it and ran out of room. Will need a second one. My mother is a hoarder. We found old newspapers from the 1950'S. Every empty box that had a TV, VCR, Radio, any appliance was stored in the basement. Good thing she had a full basement. Boxes of expired coupons. Letters from 1942, 1945, etc. Yes we're keeping the older things just in case they may be worth something. After 8 hours Saturday and Sunday I was to tired to look at a computer. Going back Thanksgiving to finish up.
Looking for my lost shaker of salt.
Wow! I know my time is coming on that subject also. Mom can't see, she can't hear and she can hardly walk, but she is NOT moving from her home that dad built back in 1946! SHe is 87. We are looking at getting stackable washer/dryer to put in her kitchen. She can no longer go to the basement to wash. And someone to come in once a week to help her, clean, etc. I live 150 miles a way, so I don't get up there but once/twice a month. Some trying times a coming.....![]()
Work like you don't need the money; Love like you've never been hurt and Dance like no one is watching!! Koowell Beans!!!!!!!
It's heart breaking to sit there and throw away my mothers memories, but a lot of them are just junk.
She had never lived alone so when my stepfather got so bad he had to be put in a home she was scared to death. He's still alive and at the same home she's at, only in a different wing. She was actually looking forward to moving there.
This place is great. I've stayed in 4 star hotels that were not this nice. Her room is huge. Private bath, 2 closets, new bed, 42" TV, computer and desk, and still has room for 3 chairs and stuff. She can still drive so she leaves every morning and comes back at dusk. The life of leisure.
Did find some old pictures of PCB. Will go through them next time I'm in B'ham and pick out some memories for everyone.
Looking for my lost shaker of salt.

You got that right, Stubby! Dad has been gone 4 years this 11/12. Mom and dad grew up on the same street, where childhood sweethearts and have never been apart except when he was in WWII. It was new to her to be alone after Dad passed but she has done well with that. She never did learn how to drive. Dad took her everywhere. I am glad your mom is going to the same place her husband is.

I'm glad to hear everything is alright Frank. That has to make you feel better that the home is like a country club.
Stay Thirsty....
I think a lot of us are starting to deal with this. We've been through it with my mother-in-law who lived in Manhattan & when she started going downhill, she named a friend legal guardian. Holy Moly! When her bills at the assisted living facility across from the World Trade Center became 17 grand a month, we interceded and flew her out here Air Ambulance. She had Alzheimers, but was happily confused and thought we lived down the hall from her. My husband got to spend plenty of time with her that last year or so and that made it all worth it.
I know it's hard FB Bama, weeding through "the stuff" long distance 'cause we've been there, but cherish every moment no matter hard. You're doing your very best for her.
If it doesn't involve the beach, it isn't a real vacation.
