Good article. It's changed a lot just since I was living there 10 years ago. Not just Pier Park, but all along Back Beach Rd. I don't mean the condos but the stores and restaurants. Everything is more family oriented which I would think would be much better in the long run. Kids get enough money to plunk down on a condo owned by someone in Kentucky which is where the rent gets spent. Then they buy a bunch of booze and eat at McDonald's and trash the place meaning some of the money brought in by them goes to cleaning up after. My guess is that families spend more at higher priced extablishments and patronize their old favorite mom and pop places. I'm all for the kids having fun, but Daytona and Ft. Lauderdale probably don't want them because they don't need them anymore. On the other hand, some of those kids will return when they have families of their own.
