Sunday Sunset Cam

We were there in June. Haven't posted lately or for a while, because for some reason my log-in wouldn't work and just now had a few minutes to deal with that.
Anyway. It was beautiful then and I see it's still beautiful now. I don't understand why people cancelled their vacations because of the oil spill. There was even a wedding on the beach in front of our condo while we were there and it was just so lovely and we enjoyed it so much. Wishing we could come more often, but it's a little to far for a quick weekender.
Just wondering: why is the Sunset cam so nice and clear and the beach cam is fuzzy? Like wannabethere said, "Just wish there was some sound" to go with the cams!

The sunset cam was recently upgraded. The other two are the same old cams they've had for years.

Beautiful photos. Question. Is the difference between a Mantra and a Stingray that the Mantra's don't have that long stingray tail? And if so, does that mean they can't sting you?

Manta Rays have no stinging spine..just a short tail.

That's correct Steve Irwin was killed by a stingray. Mantas do not have a stinger. Mantas are the ones that you see jumping out of the water. This is a pic of Stingrays that I took in May. There were several schools of them on the west side of the County Pier.


I think I have some video of Stingrays and Manta Rays on my other laptop. The stingrays are copper colored while the Mantas are black. Maybe I'll piece some video from the other laptop if it's good enough footage. I remember telling a couple in the water not to worry about the manta swimming by them.

The last 2 times we stayed at Treasure Island, the rays cruised up & down in front of our condo the entire week. There was at least a dozen of them. This one stupid jerk teenager tried to stab one with a stick and it flipped its tail at him. His mom just sat there drinking beer & laughed.
Anyway, it was fun watching them jump the waves further out in the water occasionally or just doing the slow stealth cruise down the beach and back. Koowell!!!

I can believe that Mrs. Peel. There are so many morons out there who can't tell their kids to shape up. 25 years from now that kid will be laughing while his kid is acting like a moron too.

...and the sad thing is what the parent is laughing at can end their child's life. I would categorize this as "ignorance."

Good evening awesome forum friends! ( and you too haters )... Y'all have some valid points here...there's some horrible parents out there..and they will yeild more horrible parents. Regardless...all these kickass posts of rays... all that has me wanting to go back. I'm thinking September will be a good time. Stay thirsty my friends.
