Back from old Panty Maw a day early. My 93 year old grandmother broke her hip and had surgery, so I didn't want to be far away since my mom is the only family close by. The beach was beautiful and we lucked out with only a few showers here and there. We also found an even shorter route and made it in 3 hours and 18 minutes doing the speed limit. Awesome! Can't wait to be back, but it's looking like it will be Lobsterfest before that happens. Oh well. Enjoy the rest of your trip, David.
Stay ugly and bitter, my friends.

Sorry you had to cut your trip short, hope everything is ok with your grandmother. And glad you had a good birthday trip.

L, hope your grandmother heals quickly. Also what is this shorter route from Phenix City ?

Oh dear! The same thing happened to my 92 yr old grandmother several years ago. Very important to get these old gals up and around again as soon as possible! Hope she has a speedy recovery!
If it doesn't involve the beach, it isn't a real vacation.

Thanks all! She is getting out of the hospital today. Not sure what route we took. The hubby does all the navigation, but I want to say we took a highway 77 part of the way. We turned right before the speed traps begin shortly after arriving in Florida on 231. It knocked out having to go through all that junk and through downtown PCB. We ended up coming out by Boondocks. It's shorter that way if you're staying in Laguna Beach, but it would have taken about the same amount of time if we were staying in our normal place.
