The ordinance seems to be working well on my end of the beach. They're getting the word out.

Yeah...I like how they leave signs reminding you to "Leave No Trace" on the beach. That's lovely. I understand why it's in place, but I nearly suffered a mild heart attack yesterday, walking two blocks with a twelver in the cooler when it appeared that a storm was approaching. I guess I should have downed a few before making the two block hike in Laguna Beach or rented a golf cart. It does make for a prettier beach though.
Stay ugly and bitter, my friends.
I just though of a great business propostion!!! I will buy the confiscated beach equipment for pennies on the dollar!! Then set up a roadside stand and sell it for half its new cost to other people coming to the beach!!! LOL!!!! Another fine example of fine job creation!!!!
A village has lost their idiot.....That be me!!!!
There is so may in's and out's with the law, I'm waiting to see how it works. All its going to take is a upset lawyer with more time than anything else to ruin the party. First, only personal property has to be removed but vendors get to leave their stuff. Also, the beach isn't all public. Most of the property lines go down to the erosion control line which is about halfway to the water. That makes the property north of there private. So what if you rent a cottage on the beach and put a tent up on the rented property for the time you are there? Its the same as leaving lawn chairs in your front yard. At this time its all bluff and will work as long as no one contests it. We looked at this a year ago while I was still on the council and it was a bag of worms. I would like to see everything removed from the beach each evening and not just a select few.
Old Captains never die, they just get a little dingy!!
If its illegal to drink and drive, why do bars have parking lots?
I was asked a question the other day that I didn't know the answer to. What about Schooner's Lobster Fest? Do they have to remove all their tents and stuff each day and put it back up the next?

I don't know. Does Schooners have to get an event permit for Lobsterfest? Or maybe some other kind of agreement with PCB? If so, I would guess that would be covered there. Regardless, unless the PCB government is entirely made up of complete morons, I don't think people will get there Friday morning to find the stage and tents dismantled and thrown in a dumpster.
If the question is "Should they have to?" I don't think that the couple of family oriented parties each year that cater to civic responsibility and community entertainment should be put in the same class as lazy midwest slobs leaving their trash on the beach.
hi all; i think bob is CORRECT
Well, PCB city limits end down at Joan ave and Schooners is in the county. The county adopted the law first and the city followed suit. The county has no permiting process nor licenses.
