Foghorn . . . we were staying two condos over from you at Mariner West! Were there 9/21 thru 10/3. The dolphins and rays were truly awesome the entire time we were there, except for this past Sunday-Tuesday (high waves, rainy weather). There was this one ray that got into a deep crevice behind a sandbar carved out by the storms. I was shelling in the same spot, and he would speed by me with this mouth open gobbling up all sorts of little fishes. It was an awesome experience.
You jet-skied to Port St. Joe? How long of a ride was that? Bet you saw some interesting things. Did you see the ship that was anchored offshore the entire time you were there? We're still trying to figure out what it was doing out there. Theorized that it was some sort of research ship. We met some divers while we were there that told us horror stories about the Gulf and the oil spill. Told us about "dead zones" that they are seeing on the bottom of the Gulf that you wouldn't believe. Also told us about fish/shrimp with tumors, etc. You think maybe BP is still hiding info from us? Anyway, sounds like you had a grand time, as we did. Now we gotta wait another year! Boo-hoo.
A word to the wise ain't necessary - it's the stupid ones that need the advice.
We were there from 8/7 to 8/23 and both of you were close to me. Didn't realize this.
PCB, tarballs were allegedly washed up in Pensacola and that is why the ship was there. Again, can't say that's the facts, just rumors floating around at Schooners from the bartenders, etc.
